Dennis Galyardt, our Missouri correspondent, reports:
Fishing conditions on the North Fork of the White River in Missouri are about as tough as they get.The river is very low and clear from lack of fall and winter rains. The fish are hard pressed to find a secure hide-out and are really jumpy.Everything that eats fish is leering at the river just waiting for a trout to poke its head out. Besides that, it is Cold!!The water temperature is in the 30's and insect life is at a standstill. All in all, I would recommend a tail water or spring creek rather than trying to eek out a trout or two on the North Fork. Pray for rain and wish for spring. March should be much better.
